A Few Facts about Different Types of Central Heating Boilers

A boiler can be considered to be the heart of any home as it provides heating and hot water for you and your family. A central heating boiler system has a single main heating boiler, which heats up the water and this boiler is attached to a network of pipelines, which supply hot water to all parts of the house. Boilers use fuel to heat the water and circulate it through heat resistant pipes. The hot water thus produced, is used to heat a building as well as to supply hot water for personal or commercial use.

There are various types of central heating boilers that are available in the market and a brief study of these different types of boilers will enable us to understand how each one of them functions. Mentioned below are a few important facts about 6 different types of central heating boilers –

1. Conventional Boilers are those, which heat the water by burning fuel in a central combustion chamber that is surrounded by a water jacket. The heat produced through fuel combustion heats up the water, and this heated water is then circulated around in the heating system. However, there is a drawback in this system, as all the heat that is produced as a result of fuel combustion, does not get utilized and a lot of it gets wasted through heat loss.

2. Condensing Boilers are extremely fuel efficient boilers and there is negligible heat loss. They work in the condensing mode only when all the working conditions are met with. However, there are two disadvantages – they are terribly expensive and they have a shorter lifespan when compared to conventional boilers.
